Waterborn by Kimberly James
Publication date: September 6th 2013
Genres: Fantasy, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

“You don’t have to choose. You can be both. The girl with the charm, the girl without. They both suit you.”

Caris Harper lives a charmed life. Literally.

When her dad offers to take her to the Emerald coast of Florida for summer vacation, Caris jumps at the chance. The chance to get answers to questions she’s always been too afraid to ask. The chance to be normal. Isn't that what her dreams have been telling her, that here in the place of her birth she can be normal? But from the first moment the wind caresses her face and the sun touches her skin, the charm begins to fade, revealing a girl Caris never knew existed, one that is anything but normal. The long-buried Song that awakens is only the beginning of a transformation that will challenge her ideas about loyalty and family.

Noah Jacobs is a waterbreather—a species of human fully adaptable to life in the water. Like his older brother Jamie, Noah wants to prove they can use their abilities and be heroes in service to their country. When a simple mission goes wrong and Jamie goes missing, Noah exiles himself to the Deep in a desperate search. MIA is a classification Noah is not ready to accept. But instinct can’t be ignored. Not when he hears her Song. Caris is not what he expects and Noah is determined to get her out of his head. Instead he finds himself acting as her mentor and the more time they spend together, the more Noah realizes he just wants Caris.

When a startling truth threatens their newly formed trust, Noah straddles the line between love and obsession while Caris struggles to find a balance between the girl she thought she was and the young woman she wants to be.

Book 1: Home Matters by Julie N. Ford
Book 2: Silver Linings by Kaylee Baldwin
Book 3: Righting A Wrong by Rachael Anderson
Book 4: Lost and Found by Karey White
Book 5: Second Chances 101 by Donna K. Weaver
Book 6: Immersed in Love by Jennifer Griffith

Home Matters by Julie N. Ford

According to her mother, Olivia Pembroke was born to be a star. But how is she supposed to be famous when she can't even get a decent acting gig? Her lucky break comes when she lands an audition for a wildly popular home improvement show. Even though she has no design training and has never even held a power tool, she refuses to let that stop her. She's confident that her destiny is finally within reach.

When her affections are torn between her heartthrob co-host and the irritating, yet somehow endearing lead contractor, does she continue to reach for the stars? Or does she design a new happily ever after? One that leads not to the fading lights of fame and fortune, but to a love that will burn forever.

Silver Linings by Kaylee Baldwin

Drew Westfall wants nothing more than to forget what he had to do in the name of "smart" business. Cutting off all ties with his parents—including handing over the entire contents of his trust fund to a charity—he takes off for Bridger, Colorado where his best friend has an extra room for him. It doesn't take long for him to realize that his business degree won’t do him much good in a town as small as Bridger, but he's broke and has nowhere else to go.

Eden Torresi has every reason to wallow. Not only did she lose her mother, but she had to drop out of nursing school and is in a relationship with a guy unwilling to commit. But Eden isn't the wallowing type. Instead, she chooses to spend most of her time taking care of the seniors at Silver Linings Nursing home. When she learns that her boyfriend's new roommate is down on his luck, her caring nature makes her want to reach out to him and offer what help she can. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated things get, especially when the seniors of Silver Linings decide to play matchmaker.

Righting a Wrong by Rachael Anderson

Seven years ago, Cambri Blaine fled her small hometown of Bridger, Colorado after her senior year ended in a fiasco. Only Jace Sutton knew the real reason why—that she was a spineless coward. Now, seven years later, her father's been in an accident and needs help, and Cambr has no choice but to return home. So with trepidation, she takes a leave of absence from the landscape architecture firm where she works and boards a plane, hoping against hope that Jace is no longer around and that the past can stay where it belongs—in the past.

If only life worked that way.

Jace never expected to see Cambri again. After she’d led him on, bruised his heart, and left town without a backward glance, he was forced to pick up the pieces and try not to hate her for it. Eventually, he put it behind him and moved on, creating a life for himself in his beloved hometown. But now that Cambri is back and looking more beautiful and sophisticated than ever, some of those old feelings resurface, and Jake instinctively knows, for the sake of his heart, that he needs to avoid her at all costs.

If only it were that easy.

Lost and Found by Karey White

Lydia was supposed to have an adventurous and exciting summer. Instead she's done nothing more than read and eat takeout. Now it's time to go home, and what does she have to show for it? A big fat nothing. Unless, of course, her trip to the airport somehow turns into something more than just a flight home.

Blake feels like he's been sent on a wild goose chase. While work is piling up back in Denver, he's on the other side of the country, hunting for some mysterious box that his grandfather left him. Well, no more. Nothing inside that box could possibly be more important than the opportunity to make it as the youngest partner at his firm. So he's going home, and that's that. But that's before he discovers his flight has been cancelled.

When these two strangers meet at the airport, they make a split-second decision to search for the box together. Maybe with both of them on the hunt, Lydia can have her adventure and Blake can find the box. And maybe, if they’re lucky, they’ll even find some romance.

Second Chances 101 by Donna K. Weaver

Thirty seven year old Francie Davis, a recent widow and empty nester, gets to attend college at last. She’s sure her luck has changed when she also lands a job on campus that will pay her tuition, as administrative assistant to a history professor. When her handsome new boss yells at her on the first day of work, Francie worries she will never be good enough.

For Professor Alex Diederik, life is going downhill fast. Not only is his bitter ex-wife trying to poison their only daughter against him, but now his one place of solace—his work environment—is being complicated by his attractive new administrative assistant. She drives home his feelings of failure as a husband and father, and Alex wonders if hiring her was the right thing to do.

Francie will have to put aside her hurt and insecurities or risk her dreams, while Alex must look outside himself if he’s to mend the breach with his daughter. And, perhaps, find someone who can help heal his pain.

Immersed in Love by Jennifer Griffith

Lisette Pannebaker speaks five languages and has a brilliant business plan—personal language immersion. Clients can hire her to shadow them and speak all day in any language they need to learn for business or travel—whatever.

But there’s a major hitch: she’s far too pretty. Clients with less than honorable intentions sign up just have Lisette at their side. Solution? A make-under. Way under. It works like a charm. None of her male clients show her the least bit of interest.

Until… Erik.

Erik Gunnarsson is charming, kind, and smart—everything she’s ever looked for. Even though he seems to have a secret and she swore she'd never date a client, Lisette is tempted to shed her disguise—even if it means jeopardizing her career.

GoodReads
My Review:First off I have to say that this cover is utterly amazing in my opinion!! It meshes well with the story itself and I can imagine that this is what Gabe would look like!! This was a fantastic book , I love books that have that Percy Jackson,Harry Potter feel to them. This one was sort of the same concept but it took a little different direction, It starts off with tons of action not to far into the book and just grabs your attention immediately. I really loved Gabe's character the most, very likable and easy to relate to throughout. I love the Angel/Demon concept , Wendy Owens writing paints such a vivid picture in your mind as your reading, that you can't help but to get invested in each character and their paths. You get lots of detail behind the lore and it's presented in a fascinating way, this I loved!!! Overall I really enjoyed the first in this fantastic series. I look forward to continuing the journey with Book #2 Cursed!!!!

Review-Rewrite Redemption By J.H Walker

SYNOPSIS: She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.
She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn't end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her.

She wants answers.

He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.

Then he moves to her town.

REVIEW: One word.....AMAZING!!!!!! I was so impressed by this book. J.H did an outstanding job of bringing these fantastic characters to life. The entire time I was reading it was like a movie playing out in my head, and I love when a writer can make that happen for me. I liked that I got two POV's while reading, this made the story even better in my opinion. I was able to see how both A.J and Constantine really felt about each other and the drama unfolding in there lives. I'm becoming a huge fan of this type of writing, and Rewrite Redemption was the perfect representation of this. I felt so sad for A.J,Ivan(Ipod)and Lex,they all had their share of issues concerning parental figures but it amazed me that there were so many selfish, uncaring, abusive individuals in their lives. This aspect of the story made me so mad!!! I also loved that A.J,Lex,Ivan made their own little family unit, and were there for each other in every way. That's the true definition of family! Rewrite Redemption had just the right amount of romance to be expected from two teenagers. The "love at first sight" aspect between A.J and Constantine was an accurate portrayal in my opinion. We have all been there, and know as teenagers go, they feel everything with so much more passion and run blindly into situations. So this was realistic to me. Overall this story had everything I look for in a great book, science, romance, mystery and a happy ending(most Important). This will be a book that I will re-read over and over, yes it's that good! I will be recommending this book to all my friends, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!!!! (I received a free copy of this book from the author (via the Shut Up & Read / Read It & Reap group) in exchange for an honest review.

Graduate student Autumn McShane has had her share of heartbreak. She’s been abandoned and betrayed and she lost her beloved mother in a tragic car accident five months ago. That loss damaged her body and fractured her spirit but she’s just learning to recover both until her emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend returns to town, intent on making her life miserable.

Declan Fraser hates her ex as much as Autumn does, but the last thing she needs is to put her trust in the hands of another man, especially one like Declan: his hard body and lulling Irish accent makes more than few girls weak-kneed. The talented rugby player is rude and sarcastic, with tattooed, muscular arms and a cocky attitude, but he's the only one who can help Autumn win an ill-advised bet that, if lost, could cost her more than she's willing to pay. The reluctant alliance between Declan and Autumn stirs up cravings she doesn't want to admit, but Declan is a hard man to resist.
Just when Autumn starts letting down her carefully constructed walls to the sexy bad boy, he betrays her in her moment of greatest need. Autumn suspects Declan has dark secrets, and she is determined to uncover what drove him away from her, even if that means fraternizing with the enemy. But will the truth return Declan to her arms or add to the scars on her heart?
EXCERPT:                                              My mother’s skin is pale. No steady thump moves the pulse in her neck, no awareness flickers in her eyes as she stares at me. There is nothing there. She is motionless, inert. This can’t be real.Glass is fractured all around us, stained red with our blood, and my jeans are soaked from the torrential rain that beats against the car, through the broken windshield. I can’t stop the shaking of my limbs, the shiver of cold that has nothing to do with the temperature. Mom’s face is splotched with that same red color; thick trails of blood leak from her nose and mouth. Her hands are fractured. There are breaks that twist and bend the joints, the bones, and in the stillness of the car, against the intermittent flashes from the lightening above, I notice that my hands are like hers, except where hers are battered and bloody, mine are clean. Strange that my mind can process that we share the same thin knuckles, the same translucent skin, identical ridges that tapper at the wrist. I try to reach for her, to close her eyes, but something is piercing me and it traps me to the seat.“Mom?” I know she won’t answer. I've screamed my voice raw over the past hour trying to get her to respond.Above the din of racking rain and the drumming pulse of vicious thunder, I hear sirens, but I know that it is pointless. They've come too late. She is gone. I am going. My vision blurs and I can only manage to look at her, to take in the dull white in her eyes and the pallid color of her lips. “Mom, please.” The words come out in a whisper and my head swims with a dizzy cluster of swaying vision. I am floating, falling, but I train my eyes onto her face, a tether to this life, as fleeting as it is. I try again to reach her, but I am met with resistance, some sharp unknowable thing that doesn't allow me to move. I am helpless here, something I have always made a point to never be. But I cannot rescue her. I can’t manage to even move an inch, to touch her face, to say goodbye. My mind surfs with desperate thoughts, impossible hopes, until the scatter of images lands on our family, years before, when we were whole, when my parents loved each other, when my father wasn't a coward. His voice rings in my ears, him singing something old, something very Irish, and I allow myself a smile. I forget the heartbreak he caused. I forget the loneliness in our too big home, how my mother’s smile was never quite the same. The bitterness that I've held so near to me, so certain and full next to my heart, slips away like an unintentional whisper and I rest my head back, my eyes still trained on her face. The sounds of storms and sirens around me evaporate and I listen to my father’s voice. It is soft, like a feather, and certain like the force of a windstorm.“Autumn my love, this song is for you.”I close my eyes as the phantom of my father sings me into silence, into calm, into the oblivion I know is waiting.

Author Bio:

Eden Butler is an editor and writer of New Adult Romance and SciFi and Fantasy novels and the nine-times great-granddaughter of an honest-to-God English pirate. This could explain her affinity for rule breaking and rum. Her debut novel, a New Adult, Contemporary (no cliffie) Romance, “Chasing Serenity” will launch October 2013.

When she’s not writing or wondering about her possibly Jack Sparrowesque ancestor, thinking up impossible plots, Eden edits, reads and spends way too much time watching rugby, Doctor Who and New Orleans Saints football.

Author Interview With D. L Dunaway

D. L Dunaway

We would like to offer a warm welcome to Author D.L Dunaway for stopping by our page for a Q&A session this morning!!!

D.LDunaway:Goodmorningeveryone!! Leave No Book Behind: What was your favorite part when writing Bound By Blood And Brimstone? D.L Dunaway: The scene with cousin Melvin. Melvin was unfortunate enough to get under Ember Mae's skin, and the ensuing vengeance was fun to write!                                                                                         Leave No Book Behind: What inspired you to write a novel that deals with the consequences of bullying?D.L Dunaway: Even under the best of circumstances, childhood is tough. Any child who is "different" in any way is subject to contact with someone who notices that difference. Children can be the cruelest of creatures with their own. I wanted to play with this scenario to see how far it could go. Leave No Book Behind: If I wasn't afraid, I would __________. (What) D.L Dunaway: Devote myself to a career of writing full-time. Leave No Book Behind: What is the best thing you have done in your life?D.L Dunaway: The best thing I've ever done was having my daughter. I had her late in life at a time when most "normal" people are already grandparents. She was my miracle and has changed my life for the better in too many ways to count. Leave No Book Behind: List 3 adjectives to describe yourself. D.L Dunaway: Sensitive, Compassionate, Introverted.  Leave No Book Behind: If you were to create a slogan for your life, what would it be? D.L Dunaway: You never know what you can accomplish until you try. Leave No Book Behind: Who are your favorite authors and how have they inspired your writing? D.L Dunaway: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Silas House. The first two are the darker side of the third. The combination of eerie suspense and House's sense of place stirs my imagination. Leave No Book Behind: If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have one item with you, what would it be? D.L Dunaway: I would most certainly die quickly of dehydration because my one item would be a book! Leave No Book Behind: Why did you decide to use West Virginia as the setting for your story?D.L Dunaway: The geography and culture in the West Virginia mountains is a carbon copy of my Eastern Kentucky home. It's a unique culture I'm proud of, rich in history, music, violence, and scandal.Leave No Book Behind: How did you come up with the names for the sisters?  D.L Dunaway: With Ember Mae, I liked the idea of the potential of a smoldering ember. From dormancy, if fed the right ingredients, it can ignite into a flame of great intensity. With Lorrie Beth, I simply liked the sound of the name.  Leave No Book Behind: Would you ever like to see any of your books ( present/future) turned into a movie and if so who would play the characters? D.L Dunaway: Oh I would LOVE to see this made into a movie! I can't begin to say who could play the characters because their images are so firmly ingrained in my mind. Hopefully, they would be talented and physically similar. I hate when movies based on books cast actors who look nothing like the described characters. Leave No Book Behind: Were any of the scenes in the book written from your personal life experiences? D.L Dunaway: No, but one in particular was heavily influenced by an encounter my mother had
as a young girl. She was a spitfire (and still is). A boy at school had tormented her without mercy. The end result was a confrontation in which the boy was seriously injured by my mom's dead-eye shot with a perfectly aimed rock. She started school the following Monday at a new location! A scene from my book is similar but winds up quite differently. Leave No Book Behind: Someday I want to __________. (What) D.L Dunaway: Someday I want to write the kind of books that create long lines at the bookstores. Nothing thrills me more than to learn someone has read my work and truly enjoyed it! Leave No Book Behind: Can you tell me about your next project?  D.L Dunaway: It's psychological thriller involving a woman who winds up fighting for her sanity. Leave No Book Behind: Well, thank you for stopping by and spending some time with us. It was a pleasure, and feel free to stop by anytime!! D. L Dunaway: Your very welcome, and the pleasure was all mine!
